![]() ![]() I mean the husband was calling for help and she just started looking for blankets and when she couldn't find any she just screamed and stood there and let her husband burn to death for fuck's sake □♀️ This movie started great but i got so fcking frustrated by the climax. But I also think it shouldn't have been labelled as a horror movie. TLDR I actually liked this movie and was glad it didn't give me depression. My only criticism would be the climax being too slow paced. All it took was one lie from the nun to take them back. Lola had seen the kids do terrible things but she still believed they did it out of innocence and not out of malice. So when she and her baby survived she decided to go back to religion. I think she made a promise to God when she was trapped in that burning house that she would go back to religion and be a good Christian mother to those kids if God would save her and her baby. I see a lot of criticism for Lola for choosing the kids but here's how I see it. And I really loved the Christian motifs used throughout the film. I felt attached to the characters and liked seeing them share wholesome moments as a family. ![]() Tin and Tina made me question till the very end whether they were just too innocent and brainwashed by religion which made them commit those crimes or if they were using religion to justify their evil actions. The direction, scenes, editing, sets and background music was beautiful and strange and really made it feel like a movie set in the 80s. It was unnerving and creepy from start to finish. I really liked this film and it was a nice change of pace from the usual horror movies. There is a whole more, but I'll just edit the post in the future in case I have to add anything else. If you pay attention to the Bible verses recited through the movie you will get some hints about it. That could be either the nun preparing for revenge or somehow Tin and Tina. Another thing, when Adolfo was driving back home after having dinner with his wife something got on the road and he was forced to hit the break really hard. Also, remember Tin and Tina asked Adolfo if there was another way to get to their house and he told "Yes, 6km through the woods". (Just think about it for a second, if a lightning hits Adolfo it is likely that the impact would have had destroyed the house and it didn't. It's mysterious how Adolfo died and then the nun came the next day to the hospital and told the wife about lightnings striking the area (which if you look close at the movie there are thunders but it doesn't show any lightning striking Adolfo. And remember what Adolfo did, he burnt the bible. Also, I think the nun was somehow involved in the incident at the end. Matthew 12 makes reference to the blasphemy against the holy ghost (which is what the kid did) and Samuel 17 talks about how David killed Goliath with a stone. ![]() After the boy died, if you take a look their adoptive mother found a drawing of the beaten kid, this drawing had two Bible verses Mathew 12 and Samuel 17. As you know they were extremely obsessed with the religion and they were the last ones to be with the kid before the incident. Why do I say they killed the boy? Well very simple. ![]() If you take a look closely at it you will find out that most of the children in that place are in some way "special children".Ģ- The children were strongly influenced by the orphanage (nuns) and the religion.ģ- Tin and Tina were the responsible of killing the kid that bullied them and somehow were also involved on the death of Adolfo and the burning of the house at the end. Okay so here is my analysis of the movie.ġ- Let's start by the orphanage. One of the clues is the fire surviving the rain. I think the film wants to make you very unsure of whether or not the twins did it, just as Lola was throughout. The fire was meant to be a poetic punishment for burning their bible. They also knew how to disable the TV because they saw Adolfo fiddling with it earlier in the movie. Lola was conveniently lured away just before Adolfo caught fire. The children knew how to get to the house through the woods knew how far away it was from the convent. The “animals” they almost hit in the road looked more human than animal. The nun watching the children while they slept fell asleep. I think he was probably soaked in gasoline and lit on fire by the twins. How could someone react rationally in that situation? Plus it’s definitely possible for a fire to survive rain, given it was burning hot enough. And if a person was burning alive the pain would be unimaginable, not to mention the panic. I don’t see how trying to push a burning body with your bare hands, hoping there’s a significant puddle somewhere you can dip him into, is more reasonable than looking for a blanket to smoother him in the rain. ![]()
